Jonathon Caine manages a hedge fund. When the financial world tips just a touch too far, he loses his job and faces serious prison time for playing a little too much with other people's money. His lush life style no longer available to him, he moves back to his father's house in his home town.

He decides to attend the twenty-fifth reunion of his high school class of 1991. There, he runs into prom queen Jacqueline Williams and there's an instant attraction. Jackie is married to a wife abuser. She is more than ready for a change in lifestyle. Drastic, but necessary to save her life as well as those of her two children.

Her solution leads to the police entering the scene and accusing both Jonathon and Jackie of murder. Jonathon is still faced with jail time for fraud.

The majority of this thriller tells the tale of the two lovers as they plow through the obstacles preventing them from being together, leading to an extremely clever denouement. I can't tell you more. You must find out for yourself what fate has in store for them. It's a good read.
