Author Ian O'Connor was approached by a friend to ask if O'Connor would write his life story for him. He was presented with a bag of loose papers and notes, with the comment that everything needed was in that bag.

O'Connor thought it probably wasn't a story for him to tell. After he read some of the contents of the bag, he realized this was a very different tale, from extreme poverty to making a mark in the world. It took him ten months to write The Wrong Road Home. Keep in mind that the names in this book are fictitious. You will understand why.

The protagonist of this intriguing novel is Desmond Donahue, an Irishman who wanted to be a doctor in the very worst way. He practiced for twenty years without finishing the courses he needed for his license. His subterfuge is amazing. Also his audacity knew no bounds. Without the help of influential friends, he would have been dead in the water.

His life must have been very worrisome in that he never knew that a knock on his door might be the end of a career that he never earned. That he lasted twenty years at his craft is truly amazing. His love life disintegrated rather quickly. Much sooner than his license to practice medicine.

Ian O'Connor is a retired Air Force colonel. He has three thrillers (all very well received) to his credit, and is presently working on another.
