An animal rights protest breaks up a fundraiser for a local animal shelter. Yoga teacher Kate Davidson agreed to teach dogs yoga. Even more unsettling is a suspicious fire and a drowning. Police arrest Dharma who Kate realizes is her long lost mother!

Karma's a Killer by Tracy Weber is the third in this delightful mystery series. If a reader should happen to be interested in giving yoga a try, this is the book for you. Along with a satisfying mystery, the world of yoga is laid out for you. Dog lover? You will appreciate Bella, a territorial German shepherd. And a tiny dog named Bandit proves how a small creature can have a big presence.

But I especially loved Rene, Kate's friend, who is six months pregnant with twin girls. She seems to be trying to eat all the snack food in her small town. Readers also get a peek into animal activists' minds. It seems to be hard to try to do good and have some who can't agree with your ideals at all. And I mustn't forget to mention Blackie the crow, who loves shiny things, or the pigeon who leaves proof of his existence at Kate's back door.

I also found it interesting that Kate could entertain the idea of reconciling with her mother after her mother walked out on her when she was two years old - a touch of psychology thrown in for good measure.
