here would novelists be if they didn't have secrets to expose and write books about? As with so many stories, a series of secrets are at the core of this one set in Spain's Basque country. Five years have passed since the kidnapping and murder of a local politician. The man's convicted killer sits behind bars and that should be the end of the tragic event.

ut is it? Of course not! When Iker Abarzuza, the gunman, receives a letter from the dead politician's widow, he is surprised to say the least. Marianna Torres revisits a time months before the murder and an indiscretion she wants to clear from her conscience.
