O
n England’s Cumbria Coast sits the magnificent Dungeon House and gardens. This is the remote western coast with beaches and fells, Roman ruins; and a nuclear plant! Some years ago, the Whiteleys lived there and called it home. That is, until Malcolm Whiteley - under great financial and emotional pressure, and learning that his wife wanted a divorce - went on a killing rampage.
T
wenty years later, working a cold case, Hannah Scarlett appears on the scene. She is looking for a missing girl who has been gone for three years. This case coincides with that of another missing girl who is the daughter of Malcolm's nephew. Digging into the past, Hannah looks at the Whiteley family history and wonders what really happened the night Malcolm shot and killed his wife, his daughter and then himself.
H
istorian David Kind (Hannah's lover) turns her in another direction to help solve her case. Note that author Martin Edwards has written sixteen crime novels and more than fifty short stories.
