, in San Francisco. She devotes herself to her business, no time for whimsy or romantic entanglements. Yeah, sure.
J
ay Vermillion has just inherited Vermillion Sky, his family's working ranch near the magnificent Grand Teton Mountains. Jay got home from the war in Afghanistan in time to nurse his father through a fatal illness. He is left to battle his younger half-brother and ex-step-mother over the sizable estate as well as numerous paintings of an artist who is fast becoming known to the world. Sarah would like to handle the sale of these paintings.

s predictable from the first page, Jay and Sarah soon form a relationship that is marred by violence. They are even attacked from a helicopter while in the mountains checking on these aforementioned paintings. A bit of racy lovemaking will have you breathing a little fast – but, heck, it's a part of the plot. A double murder takes their mind off their lovemaking long enough to put Sarah in a tenuous position.

s always, author Elizabeth Lowell manages to blend the two genres with ease to produce a good story with characters you will love to hate, along with a few unexpected surprises. I sure didn't see the dicey ending coming. A good read.
