In the mood for the thriller of the year? Benefit of the Doubt by Neal Griffin will more than satisfy your desire for a thrilling story that will keep you frantically turning pages as well as feeling anger at the injustices Ben Sawyer must face.

Ben Sawyer was a big-city cop until he almost killed an unarmed suspect in front of witnesses. He left his job on the West Coast to accept one in small-town Wisconsin where he and his wife had grown up. His father-in-law is now his boss.

Ben suspects dirty cops are taking bribes to look the other way in the drug trafficking that is now rampant in his town. His wife is accused of murder and Ben loses his job. His wife's father has suffered a stroke which makes him unable to assist in his daughter's trial. Ben has one person who believes in him – a Latina rookie cop who goes the extra mile to help.

It is very hard to believe that Benefit of the Doubt is a debut novel. Griffin brings twenty-five years of law enforcement to his work. He is now working as a Criminal Investigations Division Commander in Escondido, California. And, hopefully also working on his next book.

Whatever else you do this summer, treat yourself to this book. You won't regret it. And you'll thank me for the suggestion.
