Eeny Meeny
has a most unusual modus operandi. Two individuals who know each other well are kidnapped, imprisoned in remote locations, and left to starve, but with one chance to escape. A gun is provided to them and they are told that if one kills the other, the survivor will be released.
A
s this awful game is repeated again and again, Detective Helen Grace investigates and interviews the traumatized survivors. It appears that they are being selected at random as they seem to have nothing in common. But can that really be true? And what could possibly be a motive for such horrific acts?
H
elen is herself a rather different police procedural lead - though a very strong woman, she has some serious and most unusual personal issues. She leads a very lonely and troubled life, her only connection off the job being a middle-aged mother and her severely disabled daughter whom she helps and spends time with.
H
elen races against time to understand what, if anything, the victims have in common - and when she finds out, it's a shocker that hits much too close to home. Can she save the last couple who are taken? She will never be able to forgive herself if not.

f you enjoy noir police procedurals, then this is a debut that you don't want to miss.
