The trip to Mexico was supposed to be a vacation for four old friends. Jen is to have some corrective surgery to enhance her already shapely body and face. She has convinced Susan and Becky to go along and to take care of her as she recuperates.

Elle is another matter. It's been a whole year since the husband she was planning to divorce was murdered. The others just don't understand why Elle doesn't pick up and go on with her life. After all, she was divorcing the lying cheat wasn't she?

Becky immediately falls for a hotel activities director. Jen has her surgery. Susan meets Jen's plastic surgeon and feels something for him, but he has a damaged wife he cares for. And Susan, older than the other three, more or less, plays mommy to them.

Elle is immediately thrown into turmoil when she finds a woman clinging to the railing of the balcony on the next room. Elle, risking her own life, tries to save her. But she can't and watches her land six floors down. Then, to make matters worse, another newly arrived woman (in the next room again) is murdered, her face horrifically slashed.

Then Melanie shows up and picks Elle as a new friend. She tells Elle that someone is stalking her. Elle tries to back off, but Melanie is persistent.

Wow! Enough is enough, already! Just when the tension really mounts, the last scenes are played out. I can't tell you how. That would ruin really tense action at a Festival. Read on, at your own risk. Good book.
