All day, in courtroom lingo, means a life sentence. All day and a night equals a life sentence without parole. Anthony Amaro is doing the latter for the murders of six women eighteen years ago. Today, a psychotherapist has been murdered. Might the previous six murders have some connection with the latest? Is the wrong man in prison?

Carrie Blank handles federal appeals at a big shot law firm. Amaro is the serial killer police believed responsible for the murder of Carrie's sister Donna! High powered celebrity defense lawyer Linda Morland asks Carrie to leave her prominent law firm and join Morland's team to look into Amaro's case. Morland intends to exonerate Amaro and force the government to catch Donna's real killer - in order to help a man she believes unjustly imprisoned or to further her own already sparkling career?

Enter NYPD Detective Ellie Hatcher who, along with partner JJ Rogan, is tapped as the fresh look team to reassess Amaro's conviction. Ellie and JJ work well together, as well as being an item.

Alafair Burke's All Day and a Night focuses on the interaction between Amaro's defense team and Ellie's investigative efforts. And what a conflict this is. Burke is a well-known author who has already written four novels in the Ellie Hatcher series and three in the Samantha Kincaid series, as well as two stand alones. You can't go wrong with an Alafair Burke mystery.
