wo bodies, tortured and murdered ten years apart, are found in the woods near the little town of Whisper, Georgia. Sheriff Ken Meltzer knows he's dealing with a sociopath and that he's going to need help. He hires former FBI profiler Keye Street, now a private detective, to come to Whisper and assist in finding the killer.
K
eye is Chinese American, a recovering alcoholic, and currently sharing her downtown loft with her lover, A.P.D. Lieutenant Aaron Rauser and his dog, Hank. His home is being repaired after major damage from a tornado. Their relationship is good, but living together is difficult for Keye.
K
eye isn't anxious to leave Atlanta for a case in the country, but she knows she won't be able to stay away. Finding serial killers is her calling, despite the fact that she left the FBI in disgrace. Her problem was personal, not professional.
K
eye is not exactly welcomed to Whisper. The sheriff is the only one on the force who wants her help. The town's two homicide detectives and others in the department quickly let her know that she shouldn't expect their cooperation. The locals don't easily warm up to outsiders either, especially when the detectives make it known that they want her to go back home to Atlanta.
K
eye Street is smart, complicated and funny. Her series is top notch and
Don't Talk to Strangers
is an excellent mystery with a surprising ending.
