rixie Matkowski is learning the ropes in her family's diner, the Silver Bullet Café, in Sandy Harbor in upstate New York on the shores of Lake Ontario. She has bought the business, feeling that her recent divorce calls for a definite lifestyle change. Along with the diner, she has taken over the ten cottages built for tourist occupation on the diner property. Being right on the water, they have had return occupants year after year.
W
hen one of the cottage residents is found murdered, Trixie fears that it will affect the cottage business. She needs the rental money to pay her mortgage payments to her aunt. The diner cooks and serves comfort food. Trixie needs some comfort herself at the moment.

eputy Ty Brisco joins Trixie in tracking down the murderer. She soon realizes this might not be a good idea. For one, she is finding Ty more and more attractive. But she doesn't want to get involved with him. Her ex was a deputy and look how that turned out!

good friend of Trixie's disappeared years ago. Everyone was sure she was murdered but they couldn't find her body. It finally shows up in a cave on the shoreline of the lake. But Trixie and Ty continue to detect. She needs the money from the rentals though that isn't working out too well. It's obvious that she is being targeted. By whom? And why? Are she and Ty getting to close to solving the crime?
