The lead is NYPD Detective Kat Donovan, whose well-meaning BFF Stacy sets her up on a dating site, where she does indeed find an entry for the love of her life - her ex-fiancé, Jeff Raynes, last seen eighteen years before soon after her father's murder - the killer has been in prison ever since. Teen Brandon Phelps is very concerned about his mother and asks Kat to help track her down - he has heard from his mom but is convinced that something is wrong. No-one believes him but Kat is pulled in when she discovers the dating site that led to Brandon's mother's trip to meet her lover has falsely used Jeff Raynes' identity. Slowly and steadily, as Kat discovers other disappearances, all related to this sinister site, readers discover what happened and is happening to the individuals who fell into its trap, and it's not pretty. Kat succeeds only because the partner she despises is remarkably helpful. And when it's all over, she has a huge surprise about the reason Jeff left her. If you've ever used, or thought of using an online dating site, Missing You will chill you to the core.
