In order to buy his fiancée a nice engagement ring, an unnamed lawyer decides to get into the drug trade. What follows is a dark and highly disturbing tale.

I did not see The Counselor when it was in theatres, but now having read Cormac McCarthy's screenplay, I both want to and do not want to. I want to so that hopefully I can better understand the story – something I was thrown out of quite often due to McCarthy's stylistic choice to not use apostrophes in contractions ending with not. I do not want to because this was the type of raw, gritty story that disturbs me too much on screen.

If you enjoy noir-ish tales of modern drug running, The Counselor is probably something you should read or see.
