elanie Cooper and Angie DeLaura, owners and operators of Fairy Tale Cupcakes, have been asked by Mel's mom to provide cupcakes for the seventy-fifth annual Sweet Tiara contest as a favor for mom's best friend.

el and Angie would rather eat a competitor's cupcakes than have anything to do with a beauty pageant. However, they realize this would be a great opportunity to spread their name around the community.

fter all, what could go wrong? Bake a skillion cupcakes for the three-day event and hand them out. But what could go wrong usually does. A testy judge, after setting everyones' teeth on edge, is found dead under the cupcake table. A good many people are glad to see her not at the judging table, but to actually kill her?

ife is never really easy, but this is going just a little over the edge. As the reader learns tidbits of behind-the-scenes of beauty pageants, the true personalities of the contestants and their pushy mothers reveal themselves. Couldn't handle that myself without punching someone on the nose.

el and Angie are sponsoring their own choice for Sweet Tiara, hoping Lupe will win. A full college scholarship goes with the Tiara and Lupe, the daughter of a friend, can only go to college if she wins.

mystery series. If are you inclined to try a cupcake recipe or two, the back of the book will satisfy that inclination. This is a good read.
