Beth Kennedy, President of the Tarver Elementary School PTA is running at breakneck speed to juggle all her responsibilities. She is a children's bookstore owner, as well as being a single mother. She strives to be the best at what she does; but all of this is taking a toll.

Her friends recognize that she is trying to do too much and stage an intervention. Beth doesn't take it well but concedes to slowing down for six weeks straight. The PTA is looking forward to celebrating its eightieth anniversary and Beth agrees to let someone else organize a small celebration.

Beth never in her wildest dreams anticipated that one of the event speakers would die in what appear to her to be suspicious circumstances. She is proven right when a pathologist finds that the woman was poisoned! Beth determines that she must find the killer – forget about the intervention. At the same time, her best friend Marina is acting out of character – avoiding Beth at every turn.

Poison at the PTA is finely crafted and well paced. The characters are what you might find with any volunteer group, all with their own opinions and unable to see why everyone doesn't agree with them. This is a fun read.
