Soraya is a woman who dares to be different, who wants to shed the rules of her country and her culture. When Soraya discovers her best friend and her husband making love in her own bed, the betrayal cuts very deep. She is confused and very angry, with only one thought - she will not share her husband with anyone even though in Iran it is common for a man to have two wives. Soraya flees under the guise of an assignment in America.

While in America Soraya becomes obsessed with extracting revenge on not only her husband, but on her once best friend too. In her careful planning she ends up discovering a secret that could make her revenge deadly and dangerous. With everything almost in place, her friend has decided to come for a visit, but what Soraya wasn't expecting was for her husband to join them as well. The stakes are much higher now and Soraya's conscience might not be up to playing the game.

I found Scent of Butterflies a very enjoyable read from start to finish, about a woman betrayed by the two people she loves most in the world, and how obsession can become a deadly game. Dora Levy Mossanen's words flow lyrically across the pages without obvious effort. If you are looking for something different to read this might well be the book for you.
