Literally. This cozy mystery is full of tips on fine wines and luscious, award-winning cheeses. Keep a pencil and pad by your book as you read so you can make notes of the wines and/or cheeses you want to try. This author knows of what she speaks. This is Aames' fifth in the series. I missed the first four, but she melds the fifth right in so that there is no wondering about the context. Charlotte Bessette owns a cheese shop – a popular one – with a wine nook beside it. Her cousin Matthew had been living with her, along with his twin daughters, after his divorce from the wife from hell. Not sure how old the girls are but young enough to think the world is a great and safe place. Matthew asks Charlotte to give a room in her now echoing house to Noelle, a sommelier friend of his. She has accepted a position with a local winery to help grow the business. Noelle is found murdered in Charlotte's workshop. The list of suspects is long. Charlotte is ready to help the local police chief catch the killer. He is not entranced by the idea. Murder, fraud, altercations, and threats all have a place in Days of Wine and Roquefort. And, happily, there is a touch of romance thrown in to balance the bad stuff. This book is a delight. Some of the characters grew from what seems to be a very fertile mind. I'm sure we've all met at least one or two similar players in our own lives.
