The Whole Enchilada    by Diane Mott Davidson Order:  USA  Can William Morrow, 2013 (2013) Hardcover, e-Book      Reviewed by Mary Ann Smyth If you've read any of Diane Mott Davidson's many (there are seventeen of them, counting this one) novels, you know you are in for a real treat with The Whole Enchilada. The title alone will remind you that the book incorporates Davidson's clever plot planning, fascinating characters, and wry humor. I also like Goldy's dedication to her catering business and her complete attention to her family. A birthday party is planned for her son Arch's and his friend Drew's seventeenth birthdays. Of course, what can go wrong does. Drew's mother drops dead on leaving the party. What seemed to be a heart attack is soon believed to be murder. Drew is shipped off to be with relatives, while Arch and his friend Gus decide to help discover who murdered their friend's mother and, for heaven's sake, why? Goldy is attacked in her home. Another caterer is stabbed to death and the local parish priest fights for his life after also being stabbed. Goldy is caught in a trap meant for someone else. But cuts and bruises don't deter her and her courtesy son Julian from keeping their catering commitments. The Whole Enchilada is worth every moment of the time it takes to read it. I only wished it were longer. I always enjoy welcoming Davidson into my home. Her humor picks me up and her plots always keep me guessing. The descriptions of the food prepared for her business (with some recipes included) almost always get me back in my kitchen. Don't miss this one. It's a winner.
