Miss Anne Sharp was a governess for the Austen family and became a very close friend to Jane. They had much in common, from intellect to humor. Some of the things they shared were the intrigues of the Austen family - especially when it came to Henry and Elizabeth, whom they believed shared more than the friendship they claimed. Anne loved Jane Austen and would have done anything for her.

Miss Jane Austen died mysteriously at the age of forty-one and all Anne had left was a lock of her hair. For twenty six years Anne has tried to unravel the mystery surrounding her friend's death. The Mysterious Death of Miss Jane Austen, a work of fiction, is skillfully interwoven with the facts of Jane Austen's life and her family.

This was a fascinating read from beginning to end. It will keep your interest for hours at a time and have you wondering about the truth of the matter. It is interesting to read about a family of a past era and learn how things were done at that time - especially when there is a hint of murder in the background.
