In England, Lou has had a health scare. She realizes that her biological clock is ticking and time is running out. She wants to have a baby, but her partner does not want children. Lou knows that if she doesn't she will regret it. As a gay woman, Lou needs to find an alternative option if she is going to see this through. She finds a program where she can donate her eggs and maybe make another childless couple very happy.

Cath and Rich want to have children or even just one child, but Cath has had cancer and can no longer produce eggs. She can carry the child and is hoping that a donor will be found to match her and Rich's requirements. Another issue they have stumbled upon is the cost - is it worth investing it if things don't work out?

Might these strangers actually help one another in finding happiness through having a child? Or will their involvement end up turning their lives upside down?

Sarah Rayner has taken a very sensitive issue and grabs the reader's attention right away. She invokes the emotions with clarity and compassion, offering insight on childless couples (straight and gay) wanting to be parents. I found The Two Week Wait very interesting and thought provoking.
