O
nce a high level CIA operative, Robin Monarch walked away one day, after he saw something he shouldn't have on a dubious operation in Turkey. He barely escaped with his life and never looked back - we wonder why. Now we see him playing Robin Hood, stealing from the uber-wealthy in St. Tropez to support needy orphans near Buenos Aires.
B
ut his ex-boss, CIA covert ops chief Jack Slattery, who has been taking orders from outside the Agency all along, still has plans for Monarch, related to something called
Green Fields
. Slattery puts a play in motion to subtly manipulate Monarch to obtain what he needs, endangering an innocent, Monarch's girlfriend Lacey.
I
n response, Monarch, a natural-born criminal, pulls together an A team of his previous associates (all removed from the action by Slattery) to do the latter's bidding and rescue the hostage from a ruthless Russian Mafia leader.
Mission Impossible
style action ensues before they acquire the very dangerous package that Slattery and his associates in high places are after - will Monarch give it up to them?
J
ames Rollins calls Mark Sullivan (co-author with James Patterson of
Private Games
) '
A Jason Bourne for the new millennium!
' The comparison is apt - I hope it extends to the novel being made into an action movie;
Rogue
would be a winner.
