The school happens to be surrounded by the woods where her sister and another child went missing ten years ago. Calista is roommate to Helen Slater, the school's queen bee. Helen's last roommate disappeared earlier that year. Helen is certain she ran away but other students aren't so sure. No one thinks whatever happened to her can have anything to do with the missing girls from years ago and no one knows that Calista is the sister of one of the missing girls. Walks in the forbidden woods add suspense and most of the characters are mysterious, but the real mystery is why Calista, a nonconformist, chose the popular crowd to hang out with.
