Not really too sure of myself, I looked up the meaning of the word tome. I was right! A tome is a large book. So, by rights, Taste of Home Best Loved Recipes should be known as a cook tome. Not cookbook. It is, indeed, a tome. Full of delightful and scrumptious recipes. 1,485 of them!!

The recipes in this Reader's Digest book range from Appetizers to Soups; the last recipe, for Golden Clam Chowder, is on Page 889! Imagine, you could try a new recipe every day for well over two years without repeating!

Taste of Home Best Loved Recipes all come from home cooks who have responded to the call to contribute their best loved recipes. Each is headed by the name of the dish, the name of the contributor, and the year it was contributed.

Tips for the successful preparation of many of the dishes are given at the edges of pages. What a gift for the new bride. Or for the older lady (like maybe me) cooking for her special man. And there's nothing to say the men can't learn from this book. My guy has.

When reviewing a cookbook, I normally highlight the recipes that have really caught my eye. I simply can't this time. There are too many luscious things on which to comment.

Along with the recipes, there are 400 gorgeous photographs of various dishes – ones that will have you racing to your kitchen, grabbing your apron from its hook and deciding which recipe will be first. That will be really hard – the photos clearly define how food can look. And the know-how is right at your fingertips. Bon Appetit!
