ead Ringer
by Allen Wyler is a thriller that will have you gasping for breath. Absolutely ghoulish in concept but a very good rendering of a part of life we would rather not think about.
B
obby Ditto, skanky funeral director, has come up with a sure-fire scheme of a money maker. Selling body parts. From cadavers! Illegal at best. When he starts plucking live victims off the streets, he says he is doing the world a favor getting rid of objectionables!
D
r. Lucas McCrae, conducting a demonstration in Hong Kong of a new technique in brain surgery, whisks a cloth off a cadaver's head only to find the head had belonged to his life-long best friend!! How? Why? Is it really his friend Andy Baer?
W
hile Lucas investigates his friend's disappearance, his marriage is falling apart. Or has it already fallen?
A
uthor Allen Wyler is a renowned neurosurgeon. This is his third medical thriller, the previous ones being
Deadly Errors
and
Dead Head
.
T
he story has a clever plot with much to ponder. I could have wished the characters' personalities had had a bit more polishing. Still a stunner of an idea. And a good read.
