eventeen-year-old Kendra lives in the shadow of her older brother, Grayson. Grayson has OCD. His symptoms began at an early age. Kendra was six when she became responsible for dragging him out of Newman Quarry where he frequently hid out to count the rocks.

ecause Grayson requires so much attention, Kendra doesn't want to make waves. Her parents don't have time to fix her problems so she never has any. She's the perfect student, the perfect sister and the perfect daughter. Grayson's weird behavior isolates him. He drops out of school and is in and out of a of live-in treatment centers.
T
he story begins when Grayson returns unexpectedly from the latest treatment center. Kendra wishes she were glad to see him, but her life is falling apart. She doesn't need the hassle of Grayson's inflexible routines. The perfect student is about to be implicated in a cheating scandal that will ruin her perfect reputation and rock the school.
W
hen everything comes to a head she finds Grayson at the quarry. She plans to take him home, but decides they both need time away. Much to Grayson's dismay, they are taking a road trip.
B
rown treats OCD as the serious illness it is. Although Kendra is frequently frustrated with her brother, she loves him and wants what's best for him. Even though the road trip is her idea, she thinks Grayson will benefit from a break in his routine.
