Travis Brown made a choice four years ago to raise his daughter on his own and it has been far from easy. But Travis has done his very best even though his beloved Robin is no longer in the picture.

He made a bargain with Robin's father to stay out of her life and he has. He has changed their daughter's diapers, kept food on the table, and provided shelter while his friends partied. Travis has no regrets where his daughter is concerned, for Bella is his entire life, his light.

But life has a way of turning around and throwing really tough curves. Travis is now experiencing some of this. First his mom and the family home are destroyed in a fire. Then Travis loses his construction job. Now faced with being homeless and penniless, Travis needs to find a job and a home for his daughter.

He meets Savannah when he rents a trailer and she tells him about a job that sounds too good to be true. Travis finds out later that the job is a criminal, one time deal. When he has nowhere else to turn, Travis needs to make a choice that could cost him his little girl, Bella.

I totally enjoyed The Good Father, which tugs at your heartstrings. Diane Chamberlain has put into words how easily a person can become homeless and what it takes to keep it together. The flawless characters are intertwined in a way that creates sympathy for them. Even the secondary stories pull at the emotions. A great read!
