fter her mother dies, Delaney Collins goes to live with her dad, a motivational writer and life coach. She wouldn't choose to live with a man she hates, but he is her only relative. It's been years since she's seen or heard from him.

alifornia is all blue sky and flowers, but Jersey girl Delaney is not impressed. The pinky-red brick high school is right out of a sitcom. The first person she meets is Flynn, a camera geek who wants to take her photo for the yearbook. The second is the principal, who wants to be her pal and suggests she drop in to see him any time.

elaney's relationship with her uptight dad and her new friends make this book more than another tale of the death of a parent and new life with an unknown relative. Her dad isn't just a writer and life coach. He's a fairy godmother. When she finds out it can be inherited, Delaney is sure she has the gene, although her dad thinks not.
