Mix-up in Miniature    by Margaret Grace Order:  USA  Can Perseverance Press, 2012 (2012) Softcover     Reviewed by Mary Ann Smyth Mix-up in Miniature is the sixth mystery in Margaret Grace's series featuring Gerry Porter who, in this story, finds the answer to a mystery in a hidden room – in a dollhouse! Gerry is a not-too-old widow with time on her hands. She has become interested in the world of miniatures and volunteers for the local library. She also has an interest in an available man, Henry. Her eleven year-old granddaughter Maddie has discovered that she would really prefer to solve mysteries than do schoolwork. With that in mind, she would like to assist her Uncle Skip, a homicide detective, to solve murders. These individuals make up the nucleus of an investigating team. Gerry is asked to request a local romance writer, who collects dollhouses, to donate one of them to an auction to benefit the library. Gerry visits the writer. But before she can ask her about the dollhouse, Gerry is asked to leave after hearing an argument involving someone Gerry believes is the writer's brother. Since she has been told that the brother died as a child, how could that be? Nevertheless, when the writer is found murdered, Gerry cannot get that argument out of her mind. Margaret Grace is the pen name of Camille Minichino. She has three different mystery series - under her own name she writes a periodic table series; six miniature mysteries as Margaret Grace; and a new series of mathematical mysteries as Ada Madison. A very busy woman, indeed. I had a dear friend who was a miniaturist so I understood the love that went into writing Mix-up in Miniature. It's a fun book and one that could start you on a new hobby.
