This is not what Louisiana teenager Rory Deveaux expected when she headed for London to attend boarding school. No sooner is she settled than a series of murders break out in the city, that mimic Jack the Ripper's crimes a century earlier.

It's dubbed Rippermania by the press. Rory finds herself right at the heart of the situation because she is the only witness to one of the murders. The American isn't thrilled to be the lone witness for obvious reasons. Now she is a target. But Rory also wonders why she saw the mysterious suspect when her roommate, who was with her, did not. Does the American have some special abilities not possessed by normal teens? Apparently she does, which means she'll also be able to enlist the assistance of a group of other young people with extraordinary talents to deal with this dangerous predicament.

The first of what promises to be an exciting new series for adolescent readers, this paranormal thriller is filled with fast paced action, creepy settings and eccentric characters. You'll want to follow Rory Deveaux's adventures right from the very beginning, so check out The Name of the Star.
