ODIFIED
. That is the word that is to haunt Bill Moore. He found it printed on a card on his desk at work. Bill is a real estate agent on the prowl for a very expensive house to sell and thus receive a big, big commission. He wants to move on in his life plan – he is already one year behind.
H
e and his wife have a very good relationship and both want the same things. But – ah, the big
but
. His wife is beginning to suspect that he is having an affair with his associate. He's not, but Stephanie isn't so sure. The first weak link.
A
s life goes from bad to worse, Bill isn't too sure what is happening. His computer sends out an obscene joke. He didn't do it. More off-beat occurrences, not of his doing, bring reactions from his friends, co-workers, and his wife. As his life is turning in circles, the word
MODIFIED
keeps appearing.
A
ction picks up as Bill tries without success to discover what it all means. And why it's happening!
I
can't in good conscience reveal any more as the story escalates and a dead body appears. The reason for Bill's terrible dilemma seems a bit far-fetched to me – but perhaps not. People are unpredictable. But. That diabolical? Decide for yourself.
K
iller Move
is tightly written and poor Bill a great character. He seems truly out of his depth. Strong enough, though, to never give up.
