Incarcerated in a jail cell in Mexico, Morty is writing a screen play while awaiting his execution. How's that for an opener? The play he's working on explains how he happens to be in this tenuous position. Doing more than writing a story, Morty inserts the positioning of characters and their actions and describes sets down to detailing colors, while he delves into some of the funniest misunderstandings to ever land a man in jail. Were this not such a dire situation, the whole scenario would produce downright fall-on-the-floor raucous laughter. Oh, let's be truthful here. It is the above. And then some. Along with the outright laughter, a lot of chuckles work their way in. But then the author's reverence and awe of women pokes into the morass. As well as his take on human emotions and why he believes we act and react the way we do to certain situations. His emoting allows one to put the written word aside for a moment to ponder what has been said. And, almost each time, to agree with him. A very insightful person is Brian Wiprud. Ringer is great summer reading. Just as good for Fall or winter or any old time. Don't miss this one.
