Devlin St. Just, an illegitimate son of the Duke of Moreland, has more than a few demons floating in his head. He's a soldier, just coming home. Devlin inherits a new estate called Rosecroft. It comes with a small child, the previous owner's bastard. Rosecroft isn't in the best shape either. So Devlin has more responsibility than he can handle.

Devlin enlists Emmaline Farnum as a temporary governess for the child. The beautiful and multi-talented Emmie just happens to be little Winnie's cousin. Devlin finds out that Emmie brings out a peace in him that he hasn't known in a long time. Her nuturing nature is something he has never experienced before with a woman. But Emmie has a secret, and Devlin needs to find out what it is. He believes that his knowing it could help them find happiness together. There is an attraction between the two and it's building.

What a sweet book, with a bit of spice on the side. I fell in love with Devlin and Emmie, and of course the child Winnie. Some of the antics this child gets into (along with her arguments) are just perfect. It makes you smile, blush, and say ahhh, nice read for a change. Oh and watch out for the steamy parts ... ooh la la!
