I fall into that second category, so while I learned a lot about drawing and painting fantasy – and just drawing and painting in general – this book could not make me an artist. However, for those who have the skill, this is a wonderful tome to learn the finer points to creating 'epic scenes of fantasy'. Kidd gives wonderfully detailed descriptions of what goes into his art and how real life can be the basis for fantasy, which will help artists release themselves from the confines of realistic art. For non-artists, this makes an excellent coffee table book as it is filled the brim with lush illustrations and full-page reproductions. Both artists and non-artists alike will get what they need from Tom Kidd's OtherWorlds.
