Harper James is a Martha's Vineyard divorce attorney, and a good one. Her life is finally getting better after a marriage that lasted only a year. She is the best divorce lawyer on the island and has a fantastic boyfriend, Dennis, whom she wants to marry.

When Harper learns that her stepsister Willa is heading to the altar for the third time, she is not happy - and even less so when she finds out that Willa is marrying the brother of her ex-husband, Nick. Harper is determined to talk her out of it even though both her stepmother and Nick tell her to let Willa be happy. Harper, Dennis and her Chihuahua Coco head off to the wedding.

Nick is still amazed by Harper's beauty, but she often rubs him the wrong way. Now a successful architect, he is proud of his work. Nick is furious that Harper wants to talk Willa out of marrying his brother Christopher. Nick feels that Christopher has turned his life around and does not want Harper getting involved. When he sees Harper he makes her promise not to make any negative comments.

When Harper and Nick see each other again they are surprised by the sparks flying between them. After Willa's wedding a software problem at the airport cancels flights. Since Dennis has already left, Nick offers Harper a ride. The more time they spend in the car together, the more they learn of why their marriage did not work, and a few things about themselves as well. They know they still love each other, but would they make it this time ... and what about Dennis?

My One and Only is a story you do not want to miss. Harper and Nick are passionate, lovable characters. The flashbacks to their marriage show that they are maturing emotionally. The secondary characters (Willa and BeverLee among others) bring humor to a story that is also sensitive and romantic.
