Bree Kirkland lives by herself in her grandmother's house. Bree loves it, and is fascinated by history. Behind the house stands an ancient chapel and a graveyard. Bree has a map and a key which supposedly opens a treasure. In her quest for the treasure, she finds a vault in the chapel that the key unlocks. Open, it reveals a man in Scottish dress and in a weakened state. Being a kind and generous woman, Bree offers the man food and shelter. She is amazed to find that he seems familiar.

Faelan Connor is a Scottish warrior who awakens to find a very beautiful woman trying to help him. He is totally confused and wonders where he is. He soon realizes that it has been a hundred and fifty years since he was hit on the head by a demon. Everything from his past is gone, and he grieves deeply. Faelan, a warrior of great strength, is a member of an ancient clan that defends the world from demons. He is very curious as to why a lovely lass has been sent to wake him.

As Bree and Faelan become closer, the mystery starts to unravel. Faelan is totally dependent on Bree in this new world and needs her help. Can the pair learn to trust one another? Will they admit to the attraction building between them? And why does it feel so familiar to them both? Bree and Faelan need to rely on each other in order to survive and save the future of mankind. Can they defeat the demons that plague them?

Time travel is an interesting concept and this book makes it attractive and alluring. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Awaken The Highland Warrior, whose action is enriched with passion and a twist of mystery. The story makes you want to jump into the pages and help Bree and Faelan, even give them the odd shake.
