During their regular sleepover at Liz's house, high school seniors, Kate and Liz, argue. Liz leaves Kate to sleep alone in the den and goes to her room. She's sure Kate will accept her apology tomorrow. They're best friends and their disagreements never last long.

She's surprised to find Kate is gone when she goes downstairs the next morning, and even more surprised when Kate won't take her phone calls or speak to her at school. Kate goes in a different direction if they meet in the hall and she won't even sit at the same lunch table with Liz.

There's a rumor going around about Kate and Liz's brother Mike. The story can't be true, but Kate's had a crush on Mike since middle school. Liz finds herself pulled into a vortex of he said/she said. She loves and trusts them both. Who should she believe?

This strong, tense story is written in free verse that pulls the reader along like a ribbon slipping through your fingers.
