eeny Templeton's wedding plans for her marriage to Bing Jackson are almost complete. Bing signs Teeny up for a cake decorating class at the Vivienne Beaumont School for Cake Design so she can make their wedding cake, although she soon learns that's not the only reason he signed her up.
W
hen her class is cancelled, Teeny returns home to find Bing playing badminton with not one, but two naked women. She does the only thing she can think of. She climbs the peach tree and bombards them with peaches. Needless to say the wedding is off.
E
ven though Teeny is the one wronged, Bing takes her to court for assault and gets a restraining order against her. She's left with no place to stay and very little money. Bing didn't want his bride-to-be to work. Her own home is in Georgia and she's not allowed to leave South Carolina while on probation.
F
ortunately, she does have one person she can call. Miss Dora is Bing's stepmother. Bing and Miss Dora get along like oil and water, but Miss Dora has a tender spot for Teeny. Since she's redecorating she can't invite Teeny to stay with her, so she drops her off at the Spencer-Jackson House in historic Charleston. Unfortunately, the house belongs to Bing and he evicts her as soon as he finds out.
T
eeny's life becomes even more complicated when she meets her ex-high school boyfriend. He's a lawyer now. Just what she needs after finding Bing's body at the very place she's not supposed to be – the house where they lived together until the peaches and naked badminton incident.
T
eeny and Miss Dora are characters you might like to meet when you visit Charleston. Even when things keep going wrong for both of them, their rat-a-tat-tat dialogue never even slows down.
