Detective Michael Bennett heads the investigation into the kidnapping of the son of one of New York's richest families. Strangely the kidnapper doesn't seem to be interested in a ransom, but rather in whether the victim can answer questions about the world's problems.

You'll remember that Michael Bennett is a father of ten. His wife has died and he is left to parent the ten children they had adopted together. And loves doing it. So the thought of one of his kids being snatched off the streets appalls him. Who could do such a thing? He must find the kidnapper quickly. The first victim has been found dead. There might be more.

James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge have written an engrossing story. Worst Case is a thriller that captures the heart – sometimes squeezing it – with a gripping ride through New York City in search of a man who refuses to be caught and has an undecipherable agenda. Bennett is put in danger himself. He does his job with the thought that the next victim could be one of his own kids. Unthinkable. But he can understand how the parents of the kidnapped feel.

Is Bennett is up to the task of putting an end to these kidnappings and deaths? It's a horrible scenario in another good read from the master of suspense.
