T
here's nothing a book lover loves more than a book about what to read next. One of the most comprehensive
what to read
books is the Jewish Publication Society's (JPS) Guide,
Best Jewish Books for Children and Teens
.
T
he book is divided into subject matter sections, such as
folklore
,
holidays
,
immigrant life
,
Jewish rites and customs
, etc.. Within each section, the recommended books are divided into fiction and non-fiction and are listed in alphabetical order by author. A brief, though concise, paragraph describing the salient points of the book accompanies each entry.
U
sers of this all-encompassing guide can also search for books based on age range or search in one of four indexes in the back. As a bonus feature, the author has included two lists of books that have been recognized with an award.
T
he recommended books are by no means limited to Jewish children - many of the subjects have universal themes that would appeal to children of all faiths. And this volume would make a terrific gift for someone who loves to read books of this genre.
