We return to the mountain town of Trafalgar, British Columbia and reunite with Constable Molly (Moonlight) Smith. She is toying with the idea of moving on in her career and applying for a position in a larger city. Molly knows her parents will be devastated, but must look to her future.

A famous photographer, Rudolph Steiner, comes to town bringing his impossibly young wife, an assistant, and his phobia for germs. He is found shot to death with his head in the toilet! Bizarre? Sure, but it all makes sense as you read on.

The wife of Molly's boss (John Winters) is implicated in the murder. And her father breaks his hip. Molly is being harassed by a town bully. To top it all off, a malicious, grasping journalist is working her little whatsis off trying to come up with a story to elevate her to what she considers real journalism on a big city newspaper. As a last straw, there have been burglaries – small but valuable belongings have been stolen and the police have no clue until ...

I can't go any farther with the plot. Trust me, it's a good one. Negative Image is the fourth in the Constable Molly Smith series. Hopefully, not the last. If you're a fan of Delany's, here's a treat. If you don't know her work yet, now's the time to get on the band wagon.
