S
anitation Supervisor Anna Winthrop is thrown a note –
HELP ME
– outside her apartment in New York City. She spots the person who threw the note several times after that and decides that something must be done to locate her. When the woman's body is found in the river, Anna cannot get the anguished face from her mind.
J
ournalist Nettie Clouchet is on the trail of a human-trafficking gang and Anna's visiting cousin roams the streets of the Big Apple but won't say why.
I
won't say more about the plot. Don't want to ruin the pleasure of finding out for yourself what happens to, and with, these three women. Anna is unique in the literary world in that she chooses to work for the sanitation department. A nice change. And reading of the environs of the city puts the reader in the plot.
I
did notice that almost every female character is a very beautiful woman.
A
uthor Evan Marshall has written three previous novels starring Anna as well as another series featuring Jane Stuart and Winky.
