As, indeed, it is. This is a hard-to-put-down thriller of suspense, intrigue, murder, and all kinds of mayhem. Something for everyone. Our old friend, San Diego defense attorney Paul Madriani, helped to avert what could have been a devastating nuclear explosion at the naval base in Coronado. Warned to keep quiet about the attempt, Madriani finds it difficult to comply. Weapons control expert Jocelyn Cole encourages him to help foil any other strikes by going public with what he knows. Madriani has been linked to the murder of a political staffer and so is hesitant to be further involved. Weird and shadowy figures – assassin Liquida and the Old Weatherman – lurk in the dark background and make for a breath-robbing read. Hoping to eliminate these terrorists takes both Madriani and Cole into life-threatening situations. Can they save thousands of lives or will they end up as fodder for their enemies? The Rule of Nine is the fourteenth novel by Martini. Each one is well worth a read - as long as you're sure none of Martini's characters lurk in the dark nearby as you try to sleep.
