Dekker has crafted yet another successful psychological thriller in which FBI agent Brad Raines is searching for a serial killer. Nicknamed the Bride Collector, the killer chooses beautiful women, carefully positions them on a wall wearing a bridal veil and drains their blood.

Seeking help in solving the case, Brad finds himself at the Center for Wellness and Intelligence - a private psychiatric institute for gifted, yet mentally ill, patients. There, he meets Paradise - a young woman with the unique ability to contact the spirits of the deceased and see what happened to them. Paradise herself barely escaped from her own tragic past. Things get personal when the killer targets those close to Brad. Will they be able to solve the case before the killer claims his perfect bride?

The varied characters are woven together with a spiritual message. Love and forgiveness are underlying themes. While the story begins a bit slowly, it quickly picks up. One may be left to ponder at what point someone's quirks are deemed mental illness. It is interesting to note that, like some of the characters, many people with mental illness have high IQ's.
