BI Special Agent Pendergast is not your typical agent. Most do not have a Rolls Royce as their transportation, nor an old family retainer to see after their wants.
P
endergast's bile was raised twelve years ago when his wife Helen was killed by a lion while they were hunting in Zambia. That bile is raised even more when he discovers that the gun Helen aimed at the lion (that was in attack mode) was loaded with blanks. Murder! Pendergast feels her loss acutely even now. Time only increases his anguish over losing the woman he loved.
W
ith the assistance of New York City Lieutenant Vincent D'Agosta, Pendergast begins his quest to seek revenge. This is not easy. Many of his sources for information have a nasty habit of turning up dead before he can interview them.
Fever Dream
by the writing team of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child takes us through the swamps of Louisiana in search of the man Pendergast believes is responsible for taking Helen's life.

he plot is tightly written and I liked the characters even though Pendergast is enigmatic. He's a nice change from the hunks who fight crime. Pendergast acts on his own impulses – usually achieving just what he sets out to do. The trip through the swamp is worth the whole read. Had me on the edge of my seat.

he writing team of Preston and Childs has an impressive list of titles to their names, as well as novels written singly. Although they will launch a new character in 2011, they promise to still bring us Pendergast. Now that I have found him, I would hate to lose him. Thanks, fellas.
