Look Again
, author Lisa Scottoline takes her readers on a different journey than usual. Instead of telling a lawyer's tale, she uses journalist Ellen Gleeson to impart a story of murder, kidnapping and adoption.
E
llen receives a '
Have You Seen This Child?
' flyer in the mail. She is struck by the resemblance of the missing child to her adopted son Will. Disturbed, she starts a quest to find the birth parents of her son. This leads her to discover things she would rather not know.
W
hat she finds would blow anyone's cool. Murder, kidnapping, a tiny boy in need of heart surgery, as well as a sense of being in danger herself.
E
llen examines what little information she has from the adoption. What would you do? She has a good job and the admiration of her peers. A loving father, a nice home in the Philadelphia suburbs, an adorable three-year-old son and a cracker-jack babysitter. Who could want more – except maybe a man in her life?
S
hould Ellen pursue this or leave it and never know if her son is really hers or not? But in the back of her mind is the picture of a grieving mother who has lost her son through abduction. Can she live with that?
S
cottoline keeps her fans in suspense as she weaves a convoluted but believable plot to end in a dynamite scene that would put anyone off their feed.
