Cameron McPherson has reason to worry about his two friends, Owen and David. All are partners in a Los Angeles private investigation firm. As ex-cops, Cam knows they can take care of themselves, but after they fail to return home from a Maine hunting trip, Cameron is convinced that something might have gone very wrong.

Faith O'Malley also heads to Maine with a serious mission in mind; to track down her former boyfriend who's made off with some of her father's important research. As soon as Cam and Faith hit town, they sense something is off. Why are the citizens so secretive? In addition, why are there so many supposedly tame wolves wandering around?

Their immediate physical attraction is something that neither counts on. Even so, they head out together into the winter wilderness and encounter mythical creatures that will ultimately change both their lives.

In this continuation of Spear's werewolf series, she does another good job with her storyline, and the element of suspense. She also maintains plenty of paranormal flavour. The only part of this tale that I couldn't completely buy into was Cam's almost casual acceptance of his fate when he's turned into a werewolf.

Overall, though, Legend of the White Wolf provides plenty of action and romance as well as new twists to Spear's unique mythology.
