Virtually Dead by Flick Faulds (in Real Life Peter May) is a real departure in his genre of mystery. Although mystery is a driving force in this new venture, the main place where the action occurs is a virtual world called SL - Second Life - as opposed to RL - Real Life.

Crime scene photographer Michael Kapinsky lost his wife to cancer. Not being able to fall out of the funk he fell into after her death, he happens on a virtual world that intrigues him. Helped along to adjust to his new, lonely life, he finds that some of the people he knows in RL populate SL. But, wouldn't you know? Mystery also exists in this so-called paradise. Murder is not unknown in the virtual world. And will Michael be accused of a RL murder?

I am not a fan of virtual reality. Just not my cup of tea. But I have to admit, I was reeled into the other world out there and thoroughly enjoyed Virtually Dead. But then, I always enjoy Peter May's books. Never been disappointed yet. And I know I can rely on Poisoned Pen Press to publish highly readeable novels.
