hen people, including actors, think of acting, they tend to think of it only from the creative side. With his revised and updated edition of
Acting as a Business: Strategies for Success
, Brian O'Neil, tries to change this viewpoint and get actors thinking about the business side of their craft.
A
ctors on either coast will find
Acting as a Business
extremely useful with its strategies for getting an agent and thus auditions. However, while there is a section on regional theatre and indie film, this book is not as useful to the local actor. Yet some of O'Neil's tips are helpful for anyone, actor or non, who wants to advance in their career.
I
would also recommend that younger actors, who are thinking about majoring in the field, read it first so they know what they are really getting into - for acting, or for that matter theatre in general, is a business just like any other career option.
