oaded with page after page of full color photos and sketches, this behind-the-scenes look at the Disney Broadway hit musical will entrance both theatre lovers and anyone who is interested in how a production of this magnitude is put together.
M
ichael Lassell recreates the hidden drama that goes into creating a show, from rewriting the script and staging the actors to arranging the music, building the scenery, and lighting the stage. The reader will also meet the cast who originated the Broadway roles and hear about the experiences of the entire production team.
A
lthough the narrative is fascinating, what sets this book apart are the drawings by the set and costume designers, the archival images from the Disney vault, and the never-before-seen shots of the rehearsal process. You'll have a front row seat for the play as it takes shape and is readied for opening night.
G
ranted this volume is a little pricey, but, trust me, it is worth every cent. It is not often you are privy to what goes into launching a musical and Lassell is a knowledgeable guide who takes you through each step of the process.
